“That which God said to the rose, and caused it to laugh in full-blown beauty, He said to my heart, and made it a hundred times more beautiful.” - Rumi

Do preserved flowers really last forever? How can they possibly stay fresh for eternity? We get these questions every day. So, today, I’ll take you behind the scenes and unravel the mystery of real ‘everlasting’ roses. You’ll know how long they last and the secret behind these embalmed beauties.

Preserved roses don’t literally last forever (nothing in nature does) but they do however last very long. So long in fact, that you’ll be forgiven for thinking they are everlasting!

Generally, they last up to 12 months but some claim, given the right care and conditions, preserved roses in glass can prevail for up to three years! Great news for us rose lovers who hate seeing our cut roses wither and die.

So, how are everlasting roses preserved?

Preserved flowers are nothing like dried flowers. The process and results are completely different. Dried flowers are usually hung face down for a few days, sometimes longer, until the flower has dried out. This process, although effective, also dries out the color and the essence of the flower resulting in a dead and faded plant! A problem that preserved roses in a box do not face.

First and foremost, roses to be preserved, must be cut at their peak. They are then treated, replacing the natural sap with a mixture of liquid glycerine, water, and a dye depending on the color of the rose.

The stems of freshly cut flowers are soaked in a natural mixture of glycerine and other plant components. The stem stays submerged for a few days until the sap is gradually replaced by this liquid.

Next, each petal is carefully examined and damaged ones are removed. The result is a stunning, perfect rose that’ll hold its freshness and beauty for what seems an eternity.

This delicate process allows human creativity to unite with nature’s most wonderful floral geometry. As a result, roses dazzle in hues unseen in nature.

Rosephoria offer beautifully hand cut preserved roses in boxes and glass domes in a variety of colors.

Not all roses are sold the same. Some preserved roses are more stunning and bewitching like the beauty of Venus.

The best roses are grown in South America. They grow perfectly straight near the equator because the sun shines perpendicular to the earth’s surface. The solar radiation at high altitudes of the equator helps the flowers grow thicker and healthier with more intense color. The best-preserved roses are hand-picked at the peak of their natural beauty.

At Rosephoria, these roses, for the sake of the greater good, are grown ethically. Roses bloom best when kept away from bacteria and other damaging elements. This, unfortunately, means a lot of pesticides in some parts of the world.

It is a complex process, but we do our bit by supporting ethically grown flowers and hope the more exploitative companies will have to change their ways, sooner or later.

Preserved roses in a box are a fantastic gift for all occasions; with the wide range of colors, quantity and chic packaging, they really add a meaningful touch to someone’s birthday, engagement or wedding.
